Grand Designs
2021 is the 10-year anniversary of DLA obtaining planning permission for a house that went on to feature in Season 12, Episode 2 of Grand Designs. The house labelled by Grand Designs as the ‘Computer-Cut House’ is situated in the Green Belt in Tring and previously the land contained a bungalow and a double garage, all of which were demolished. The new build, constructed through the FACIT building system created a sustainable, high-performance home.
This was not the only appearance that one of our schemes had on Grand Designs. In 2017, Season 18, Episode 4 showed the ‘Roman House’ which is situated on medieval monastery grounds in St Albans. The unusual ‘H’ shape was required by design in order to stay sympathetic to the surrounding artefacts on the site.
