Glebe House, St Albans
Planning permission and listed building consent were obtained on appeal for an outdoor swimming pool in the grounds of a listed dwelling in July 2020. The Council had already accepted a similar pool in two alternative locations, but objected on this occasion on the basis that it would cause harm to the significance of the Grade II Listed Building through its setting.
The Appeal Inspector however agreed with our heritage consultant that the proposed development would be a modest alteration close to ground level that would have a limited physical impact on views or appreciation of the listed building and which would not detract from the significance of that heritage asset.
