London Road, St Albans
DLA are delighted to announce that we have secured a resolution to grant planning permission for the redevelopment of an industrial site on London Road in St Albans. The permission allows for 23, 3-bed houses, along with 9, 1 and 2-bedroom apartments on the site. The development of houses will follow the linear footprint of the existing buildings, optimising the site’s potential. The apartments will be formed from the conversion of the existing Edwardian building that fronts the site.
There is an industrial history to the site as it was once used as a ship model experiment tank to test the designs of submarines and ships. Contextually, it is located within a Conservation Area and lies to the south of the Great Northern Railway Line.
This success will greatly contribute to the local housing supply along with preserving and enhancing the character and appearance of the Conservation Area.
