Our client had previously applied for an additional storey on their dwelling which is a detached chalet bungalow, located in the village of Wheathampstead and washed over by the Green Belt. However, this application was refused on three grounds; sunlight/daylight issues, a lack of evidence the year the house was built, and lack of additional information on the drawings.
DLA then became involved at this point. We submitted a proposal for an enlargement of the dwellinghouse by construction of an additional storey through the prior approval process. This proposal constituted Permitted Development under Class AA and we assessed the proposal against the relevant criteria to conclude that the proposal would comply. The Council agreed on this assessment and subsequently they gave the prior approval permission.
