Mad Squirrel Tap, Watford

Continuing DLA’s success for Mad Squirrel Tap, we have most recently received planning permission for a change of use from Class E (restaurant) to Class E (retail and restaurant) and Sui Generis (drinking establishment) in Watford. Our previous successes for Mad Squirrel include their Taprooms in Berkhamsted and St Albans.

The site is part of Watford’s Met Quarter, which is a mixed-use development area located in the town centre. With this permission, Mad Squirrel will be able to serve their own produced brews as well as offering food and a retail element. DLA argued that, although Sui Generis is against Policy in this defined retail area, a Sui Generis use in the form of a drinking establishment is a commonplace use in Town Centres, and such use would contribute to the vitality and vibrancy of the area.

Good luck Mad Squirrel Tap!
