Park Avenue South, Harpenden

Last month, DLA received planning permission for an additional gated access, new gates to the existing access, and a new car port at a dwellinghouse in Park Avenue South, Harpenden. This followed a successful permission back in March of this year for a replacement dwelling.

The main concerns for this permission were the fact that the dwelling is sited in a Conservation Area. To mitigate this impact, the proposal would utilise extra landscaping to screen the car port and within the application, we gave examples of other similar schemes in Park Avenue which were found acceptable. In the end, the Case Officer concluded that the proposed development would be considered appropriate and would be compatible with the street scene and character of the Conservation Area.
